Nicole + Jamey’s Nelson Ghost Town Couples Photoshoot
“Hey Chris, do you wanna do a couple shoot at Nelson Ghost Town?” I don’t think it’s possible to describe my reaction to this question but it was somewhere between a girly scream + the kind of involuntary arm movement that resembles one of those inflatable, wavy men that you see outside car washes. I was pretty excited.
Nelson Ghost Town is in the Eldorado mountains, five miles from the Colorado river. The area features an array of abandoned ranch buildings, awesome weather worn retro signage + a bunch of industrial American vehicles – It’s basically a big ol’ Barber playground that’s surrounded by nothing but desert + distant mountains.
I should’ve probably felt more uncomfortable about getting into the back of a car with a couple + driving out for miles into the middle of the desert but I was blinded by the desire to take pictures in front of crashed planes. If you ever want to kidnap a Chris Barber… just pull up + promise abandoned industrial spaces + I won’t even question your motives. Also please don’t kidnap me.
The wonderful Nicole + Jamey flew Alline + I out to fabulous Las Vegas to photograph their wedding so it would’ve probably been quite an elaborate kidnap plan. ANYWAY I’ve said “kidnap” wayyyy too many times + this is a terrible introduction to a blog post + I hope you haven’t read it.
