Emma + Rico – Rayavadee Wedding, Krabi – Thailand

Emma + Rico's Rayavadee Wedding in Krabi, Thailand.

I've been so excited to share Emma + Rico's stunning Rayavadee wedding in Krabi, Thailand. Partly because I get to open this story with monkeys but also because I absolutely loved being part of this experience.

I could've never dreamt in a million years that my 'work' would take me to Thailand. I've always wanted to see the textured limestone cliffs, picturesque forests + idyllic beaches so when Emma + Rico asked Alline + I to photograph their wedding, we could barely believe our luck.

I wanted to share a huge "thank you" to Emma + Rico for letting us 'in' by being yourselves + for giving us so much creative freedom throughout the whole process. You took me to a part of the world that I've wanted to visit for *so* long + I'm genuinely so grateful that you trusted Alline + I to document this awesome wedding.

Emma + Rico had two ceremonies. The day started in the Grotto at Rayavadee, which is basically this stunning cave that overlooks Phra Nang beach. We quickly found ourselves in the middle of a Buddhist blessing conducted by actual, real-life monks. Emma + Rico exchanged gifts with them for chants of ancient blessings on their marriage as they exchanged "I-don't-know-what's-happening-but-this-is-awesome" looks at each other.

We took a short break for some portraits throughout the jungle that is ...Rayavadee. Any venue that can arrange private boats, the worlds fastest golf buggy's + multiple sea-tractors as transport is a winner in my eyes but Rayavadee is also sprawling with beautiful scenery. Within the same glance, the landscape can vary from idyllic beaches + secluded jungle habitats to awe-inspiring cliff faces + caves. It's pretty rare that I'm overwhelmed by the number of potential places to photograph portraits but I could've easily photographed Emma + Rico there for at least the next 50 years + not get bored.

Once the sun had chilled out a bit, we moved onto the main ceremony in a forest clearing. Emma + Rico's friends + family had travelled from Australia + England respectively + everyone was 100% emotionally invested in them as a couple. There wasn't a single person who wasn't on the verge of tears. As you might know, I'm incapable of crying at weddings because I'm a cold-hearted bisch ...but even my eyeballs were kind of sweating.

After the ceremony, we strolled through the grounds of Rayavadee for some final portraits by the sea before joining the rest of Emma + Rico's family for drinks as the sun set over Phra Nang beach. Heartfelt, yet hilarious speeches echoed around the cave before that sound was replaced with the sound of 00's alternative punk rock until the early hours of the morning. I vaguely remember almost dancing off the edge of a small cliff before somehow regaining my balance off a light stand...which is why I bring light stands.

One final quick shout out to my partner in crime, Alline for coming along with me for this crazy ride. I absolutely love sharing these experiences with you. Thank you being such a calming influence + for being such an amazing second brain.

If you haven't already checked it out then you can go see Emma + Rico's Railay Beach engagement session by hitting the link. There's also a whole series of behind-the-scenes videos over on IGTV where you can watch Alline + I location scout, eat all the food + basically prance around like fools. So that exists, if that's what you're into.

Amie + Jam

Dewsall court wedding

Amie + Jam's Relaxed Dewsall Court Wedding.

Amie + Jam's laid back Dewsall Court wedding began with the guys playing pool whilst the girls were just upstairs getting ready. There were these amazing requests between the two floors, like when I had to go upstairs to ask the girls for nail clippers. "Why?" the girls asked...apparently Jam wanted to do his nails but it turned out they were also used to cut some loose thread from the men's suit crotches.

The ceremony was beautifully decorated with Botanics throughout the glass barn as we went out for portraits. Before long, the real party got started as Deckheds blasted out some killer non-cheese nostalgia which became the soundtrack for beer pong whilst other guests sat around campfires + ate under the stars.

My favourite kinds of weddings are the ones when you can just take pictures whilst minesweeping the tables with my couple...hence I have earned the title of "Minesweeping Legend" haha.

I am also super proud to one of Dewsall Court's officially recommended wedding suppliers. I absolutely loved this place + would love the chance to come back + make awesome photos.

Sophie + James

Ettington Park Wedding

Sophie + James’ Ettington Park wedding ceremony was held outdoors, in the ruins of an old church in one of Britains ‘most haunted’ buildings. I wasn’t even scared.

Sophie and James’ grandtastical Ettington Park wedding was in Alderminster, Stratford-upon-Avon. They had their ceremony on the grounds of the venue, which was great, because having everything in one venue meant more time for drinks. They chose Ettington Park, because it’s where they always wanted to have their wedding and they just love it there. It was such a relaxed wedding, which meant I had loads of freedom to approach the wedding as a guest. I love shooting weddings at Ettington Park, because the grounds are so varied and the photo ops are endless.

Ettington Park Wedding

Sophie got ready at her parents home called the “Bridle cottage” (how kind of appropriate is that?!) She got ready with her whole bridal squad, and the atmosphere was full of excitement. “Team Bride” kept Sophie calm as they all crammed into her childhood bedroom to help her get ready. Sophie + her dad then jumped into a fancy wedding car to the ceremony.

Outdoor Wedding Ceremony

The wedding itself was an intimate outdoor ceremony in the ruins of an old chapel in the grounds of Ettington Park. It was such a personal ceremony. Sophie + James seemed totally relaxed throughout + so happy to have all their family + friends around them.

The most fun part of the day was heading out for portraits, because Sophie + James love to laugh at each other + it was hilarious to hear their witty little stories. They also had a DIY photobooth during the party – it was so much fun! I didn’t actually know there was a photobooth until I spotted guests with random masks + costumes on the dancefloor (which made for some interesting photos).

Wedding Photographer West Midlands

Sophie + James got in touch with me back in 2016 and their enquiry really intrigued me. They said they wanted a fun photographer, and I really liked that they love cats as much as me. Sophie told me all about her cat which is ACTUALLY called Rio Purdinand, which might be fave cat name of all time.

Sophie and James’s wedding had such a fun atmosphere and everyone was there to have a great time. Here’s their awesome wedding!
