Rio De Janeiro Wedding

Mariana + Leo's Elopement in Rio was the type of photography-brief that dreams are made of. Traveling the world with my camera is one of my favourite things to do when I'm not legally obligated to stay at home.

I'm not a total stranger to Rio or Brazil. I'd been to Brazil twice when I first got Mariana's email. It slowly dawned on me that I'd get to visit Brazil TWICE in 2020 before March was over. I'd spent 2 months in Belo Horizonte visiting Alline's family over Christmas + then had just a week or two back in the UK before heading back to Brazil for a second time - this time to photograph Mariana + Leo's elopement.

I love Mariana + Leo's story. In Mariana's words "he showed me some goofy magic tricks at his house party and my heart was won. He just got me. And I got him."

How cute is that?! They were engaged 6 months after the first meeting + married within 10 months. These guys aren't here to mess about, they literally define the whole "when you know, you know" thang.

This was my first time riding solo in Rio. I spent the week soaking up the sun, sea + the post-carnival atmosphere, whilst hanging out with Mariana + Leo. Inspired by Mario Testino's take on Rio de Janeiro, we found awesome secluded parts of otherwise busy beaches, sneaked around the luscious landscapes in the botanical gardens + hung out by the pool in Santa Teresa, which overlooked Sugarloaf + the rest of Rio. As the sun set on our final day of shooting, a beautiful red moon rose from the sea before M+L called "wrap" by jumping in the pool.

I'm so grateful for this whole experience + I can't wait to adventure again once all the Corona-crazy is over with. Stay safe!

N+J’s Neon Museum Wedding in Las Vegas

Nicole + Jamey's Neon Museum Wedding, Las Vegas

I've always dreamt of photographing a wedding at the Neon Museum in Las Vegas, like you don't understand...this has been my dream since I first started.

So when Nicole + Jamey mentioned they were getting married at The Neon Boneyard, I remember thinking "we absolutely have to go there + shoot this". Nicole + Jamey were so kind as to invite Alline along for the ride so we set off on an adventure to see Vegas.

I first went to Vegas somewhere around 2011 for WPPI. I signed up to every workshop + immediately began to understand what I wanted to 'give' to wedding photography + why. 7 years later, with 100's more weddings under my dealt + a much better idea of my own creative vision - I was SO excited to go back.

Chris is amazing. He gets our most enthusiastic recommendation! My now wife and I were at a loss in choosing a photographer for our wedding. We’d shopped around but we weren’t excited about our options until my wife stumbled across a wedding Chris had shot on someone’s wedding blog. We were lucky enough to find he was free the weekend of our big day and even luckier to find his partner Alline would also be joining him.

We hit it off with Chris immediately and even before we’d met him in person he had reinvigorated our wedding planning. The day before our wedding we met Alline and Chris for an engagement shoot. It was a blast. In fact it was never boring being photographed by them. They would use clever games and tricks to get us off our guard and to act candidly.

Fast forward to the wedding day: a few fun photos of the getting ready process were followed by a first look photo shoot before the wedding and reception. Throughout that extremely long day neither Chris’s nor Alline’s energy flagged the slightest bit. They remained enthusiastic about every shot. Our wedding party and guests loved them.

We’ve seen just a sampling of the finished photos and we are blown away. The pics are beautiful and we are excited to see the rest!

Emma + Rico – Rayavadee Wedding, Krabi – Thailand

rayavadee wedding thailand

Emma + Rico's Rayavadee Wedding in Krabi, Thailand.

I've been so excited to share Emma + Rico's stunning Rayavadee wedding in Krabi, Thailand. Partly because I get to open this story with monkeys but also because I absolutely loved being part of this experience.

I could've never dreamt in a million years that my 'work' would take me to Thailand. I've always wanted to see the textured limestone cliffs, picturesque forests + idyllic beaches so when Emma + Rico asked Alline + I to photograph their wedding, we could barely believe our luck.

I wanted to share a huge "thank you" to Emma + Rico for letting us 'in' by being yourselves + for giving us so much creative freedom throughout the whole process. You took me to a part of the world that I've wanted to visit for *so* long + I'm genuinely so grateful that you trusted Alline + I to document this awesome wedding.

Emma + Rico had two ceremonies. The day started in the Grotto at Rayavadee, which is basically this stunning cave that overlooks Phra Nang beach. We quickly found ourselves in the middle of a Buddhist blessing conducted by actual, real-life monks. Emma + Rico exchanged gifts with them for chants of ancient blessings on their marriage as they exchanged "I-don't-know-what's-happening-but-this-is-awesome" looks at each other.

We took a short break for some portraits throughout the jungle that is ...Rayavadee. Any venue that can arrange private boats, the worlds fastest golf buggy's + multiple sea-tractors as transport is a winner in my eyes but Rayavadee is also sprawling with beautiful scenery. Within the same glance, the landscape can vary from idyllic beaches + secluded jungle habitats to awe-inspiring cliff faces + caves. It's pretty rare that I'm overwhelmed by the number of potential places to photograph portraits but I could've easily photographed Emma + Rico there for at least the next 50 years + not get bored.

Once the sun had chilled out a bit, we moved onto the main ceremony in a forest clearing. Emma + Rico's friends + family had travelled from Australia + England respectively + everyone was 100% emotionally invested in them as a couple. There wasn't a single person who wasn't on the verge of tears. As you might know, I'm incapable of crying at weddings because I'm a cold-hearted bisch ...but even my eyeballs were kind of sweating.

After the ceremony, we strolled through the grounds of Rayavadee for some final portraits by the sea before joining the rest of Emma + Rico's family for drinks as the sun set over Phra Nang beach. Heartfelt, yet hilarious speeches echoed around the cave before that sound was replaced with the sound of 00's alternative punk rock until the early hours of the morning. I vaguely remember almost dancing off the edge of a small cliff before somehow regaining my balance off a light stand...which is why I bring light stands.

One final quick shout out to my partner in crime, Alline for coming along with me for this crazy ride. I absolutely love sharing these experiences with you. Thank you being such a calming influence + for being such an amazing second brain.

If you haven't already checked it out then you can go see Emma + Rico's Railay Beach engagement session by hitting the link. There's also a whole series of behind-the-scenes videos over on IGTV where you can watch Alline + I location scout, eat all the food + basically prance around like fools. So that exists, if that's what you're into.

Laura + Harry – Santa Maria Di Castellabate Wedding

Santa Maria Di Castellabate Wedding.

Back in the summer I was invited to be part of Laura + Harry’s Castellabate wedding. This whole wedding was *stunning*. I’ve loved photographing destination weddings recently. There’s something so exciting about getting on a place + heading to a location that’s totally different to where I usually shoot. I love working with new types of light, completely different architecture + meeting people from different cultures. I always arrive at least a day in advance (because air travel) which means I usually get to meet + hang out with my couples friends + families before the wedding. Meeting everyone in advance makes it feel like I’m a genuine part of the day, rather than just the “official photographer” which builds trust + means that guests feel more at ease in front of camera. I genuinely consider this group of people as good friends + it’s sort of awesome that ‘job’ allows me to see exciting new places, meet awesome people + create photos that make people happy.

This was the third wedding I’ve photographed for this group of friends. It started back in 2016 when I shot Liam + Maria’s laid back pub wedding, followed by Ria + Jordan’s London Town Hall Hotel wedding in London before this total feast for the eyes.

Anne + Jeff – Wedding Photographer, Nice

Wedding Photographer Nice, France

This was one of my first times as a wedding photographer in Nice + guess what? It was Nice. Sorry.

But seriously it was actually pretty nice. Anne + Jeff planned the day with the help of the super talented girls at Rock My Love, who created a beautiful blush pink French chateux garden wedding to host all of Anne + Jeff’s favourite people from around the world.

I also got to have one of my favourite wedding side kicks (Destination wedding videographer) along for the ride…+ by “ride”…I mean that Leanne is a fantastic driver + she was definitely didn’t almost kill us both with her stunt driving skills.

I love to travel + see new places that are totally new to me. It’s what excites me the absolute most about being a destination wedding photographer. Wedding photographers in Nice are spoilt by this beautiful golden light, lushious rolling countryside + cobbled little back streets, which totally fascinated me once I’d finished eating all of the food. I’d absolutely LOVE an excuse to photograph a wedding here again, so if you’re planning a wedding in the South of France, please do get in touch.

“Browsing through lists of high end wedding photographers in Nice left me nothing but frustrated…I had already seen hundreds of beautiful pictures but not one of them was really personal and true! Up until I decided to look a little further and spotted Chris’ work online. It was “un vrai coup de coeur”.

So even before having found the venue, caterer or a dress, Jeff and I arranged for a skype call with Chris in order to talk details.

We got along just perfectly, things were uncomplicated, fun and I knew, there was no way another photographer was given the job. If I had to describe Chris’ pictures in only a few words, I’d say they capture the moment.

Every time we look at them, we can see that people were having an awesome time that day, they laughed, and cried and danced and celebrated. We wanted to remember every second of this incredibly beautiful day. Even though we couldn’t be in different places at the same time, we didn’t want to miss any second of happiness …or drunken shenanigans for that matter. And Chris did it – he rocked (and still rocks)!”

– Anne + Jeff
